Animal Education 101

There are many people in the world that seem to think that having a "pet" is as simple as going out and getting one, pat it on the head, and let someone else train it and take care of it. And when the person who took in that "pet" gets bored or disenchanted with the animal, gets rid of it by putting it in the pound or gives it away!

WTF??? Would you like to be treated that way? Be taken into a home that you have never been in, nor know the people that takes you in. You are fed, somewhat taken care of, patted on the head once in a while, be let out when they remember, and clean your feces whenever they feel like it because they're to lazy to clean it up or take you out. Then decide to get rid of you because they've become disenchanted!

Not a good scene, is it? Well, sadly there are people who behave this way. And, yes, it is abuse. It is abuse because they are giving the animal a false sense of security. It is abuse and neglect when the person is lazy that they don't let the animal out to do its' duty. It is abuse and neglect when the person doesn't clean up after the animal has an accident and lets it sit there because it makes them sick to their stomach to clean it up! Really??? Then my question to them is this: How can you stand to wipe your own a** when you have a bowel movement??? Pretty ironic, I say! I hate to see how they cleaned up their children when they were infants!!!!

Taking in an animal is more than just giving them the basics of living. It is caring for them, loving them, and treat them as we would like to be treated. With dignity and respect. Something that seems to be lacking in the type of people that I described above. Animals become our lifetime companions. Whether their lifetime or ours. They depend on us, as much as we depend on them. And it is up to us, those of us who treat animals as more than "pets," to teach others this way of life. The fight goes on!

This horrible news came from the journal of

Apparently the governor or Idaho wants to kill off approximately 550 Grey Wolves. Personally I don't understand why this massacre has to take place. Apparently it is due to this reason "Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter complained that wolves are rapidly killing elk and other animals essential to Idaho's multimillion-dollar hunting industry." Wow multimillion-dollar hunting industry. All in the naming of killing.
If anything I believe relocating them to lower populated areas might be a better solution than just killing the poor animals off. It is so sad to see these wolves being treated like this when I know zoos that are trying so desperately to breed the subspecies the Mexican Grey Wolf in order to reintroduce them into the wild.

The RSPCA is starting a new fund raising tradition this year and I thought it was very fur relevant. In September and October the RSPCA and other affiliated stores such as Big W will be selling tails and ears. To be worn on the Friday the 5^th of October for *Happy Tails Day*.

Each year the RSPCA will change the design of the tails and ears so hopefully in a few years we can all have a large collection of tails. The tails are also cheep 5 dollars each. So if you see them around support the RSPCA and buy and wear it on the 5th.

Even if you don’t want to buy a tail or other accessory. Tell a friend and make this new tradition a great fund raiser and activity for the RSPCA.

I personally can’t wait to wear a tail to my work place with a non embarrassing reason.
